Paul, Sorry these comments are coming so late. Please try to post your work a little more promptly. I like the sense of character you create in your drawings. You definitely can draw the figure foreshortened and the line is active. I do think you're still being a little too careful about your marks and making a little too illustrative of a drawing. Please try to work with your whole arm - shoulder to wrist - when putting marks down. Working in a small sketchbook prohibits this, so please work larger. I think if you loosen up and place more emphasis on overall pose and gesture, rather than attention to detail, the drawings will be stronger.
